The Meeting of Business Intelligence and Software-as-a-Service

Traditional business intelligence solutions are expensive, time-consuming and complicated. They involve large upfront licensing fees, an implementation process that could take months or years, additional investment in training employees and support staff – and in the end, it may not fully achieve the optimistic goals set forth in the design phase.
Listen to the Podcast:
Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) – or, what we like to call “Solution-as-a-Service” – is a more efficient way of delivering business intelligence solutions to companies. The application is hosted on the Web, so companies do not have to install, run or maintain the application themselves. The startup costs are very low, there are no software licensing fees, and companies start seeing results within weeks.
While low costs and speed-to-market are important, another key advantage of SaaS is that it transforms business intelligence from an IT tool into a comprehensive business solution. SaaS BI can complement in-house solutions. The simplicity and scalability of SaaS make business intelligence accessible to companies of any size – from SMBs to enterprises – whether or not they have an IT department, or even any technical expertise. Any company is able to see what’s really going on throughout an organization and how each business area affects everything else. SaaS Business Intelligence bring enterprise-class power to the SMB market.

Got something to say?

Hi,
So what else does a prospective customer need to know before investing in a BI solution in a SaaS delivery model? Compliance with any industry auditing standards like SAS70 and what about other regulatory compliance drivers like PCI compliance?
A typical naive approach to BI, which displays lack of understanding for the process!
