IBM Announces Plans for Worldwide Network of Analytics Solution Centers: Apr 29, 2009 (TELECOMWORLDWIRE via COMTEX) — IBM | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating — Information technology company IBM (NYSE:IBM) announced on Tuesday (28 April) an expansion of its capabilities around business analytics with plans to open a network of Analytics Solution Centers around the world, beginning with five in Q2 2009. IBM said the centres will enable it to meet client demand for advanced analytics capabilities as part of new, smarter business systems. Much of this demand is driven by new stimulus investments around the world in areas such as financial risk management, smart grids, electronic medical records and food tracking. The clients are embedding new sensor technology into their processes in order to gather better performance and management data. Good Data Raises $2.5 Million in Venture Financing: Good Data today announced that it has closed its first institutional round of funding with $2.5 million in venture financing led by General Catalyst Partners, with participation from O’Reilly AlphaTech Ventures, Windcrest Partners, Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz.
